54.1-4109. Exemptions from chapter.

A. The chief law-enforcement officer of a county, city or town, or hisdesignee, may waive by written notice implementation of any one or more ofthe provisions of this chapter, except 54.1-4103, for particularnumismatic, gem, or antique exhibitions or craft shows sponsored by nonprofitorganizations, provided that the purpose of the exhibitions is nonprofit innature, notwithstanding the fact that there may be casual purchases andtrades made at such exhibitions.

B. Neither the provisions of this chapter nor any local ordinances dealingwith the subject matter of this chapter shall apply to the sale or purchaseof coins.

C. Neither the provisions of this chapter nor any local ordinance dealingwith the subject matter of this chapter shall apply to any bank, branchthereof, trust company or bank holding company, or any wholly ownedsubsidiary thereof, engaged in buying and selling gold and silver bullion.
