53.1-24. Record of convictions and register to be kept.

The Director shall file and preserve a copy of the judgment furnished by theclerk of the court of conviction of each prisoner and keep a registerdescribing the term of his confinement, for what offense, and when receivedinto a state correctional facility. The Director may dispose of these recordswith the consent of the Board and The Library of Virginia in accordance withretention regulations for records maintained by the Department establishedunder the Virginia Public Records Act ( 42.1-76 et seq.).
