42.1-76. Legislative intent; title of chapter.

The General Assembly intends by this chapter to establish a single body oflaw applicable to all public officers and employees on the subject of publicrecords management and preservation and to ensure that the procedures used tomanage and preserve public records will be uniform throughout theCommonwealth.

This chapter may be cited as the Virginia Public Records Act.
