Chapter 17 - Barbers, Beauticians and Manicurists
§ 452. Powers and duties of the Board

  • In addition to any other powers and duties that may be provided by law, the Board shall administer the provisions of this chapter, except as otherwise specifically provided, and without limiting the generality of the foregoing shall have the following powers and duties:
    • (1) adopt an official seal;

    • (2) subpoena witnesses and administer oaths;

    • (3) keep records of its proceedings;

    • (4) recommend the issuance, denial, suspension, revocation, or reinstatement of licenses under this chapter;

    • (5) submit to the Governor through the Commissioner annual reports containing a summary of its work, a register of every person licensed under this chapter, and such other data as the Governor or the Commissioner may request or as may be deemed proper by the Board;

    • (6) adopt, amend, and repeal rules and regulations, not inconsistent with the law, relating to the organization and operation of the Board and the licensing, regulation and inspection under this chapter of barbers, beauticians, manicurists, barbershops, and beauty shops.
