§ 181. Caribbean Friendship Week

  • (a) The fourth Friday in August and the following ten (10) days thereafter shall be observed, each year, as the Caribbean Friendship Week Festival throughout the Virgin Islands. Such festival shall emphasize the bonds of friendship between all peoples of the Caribbean.

  • (b) There are hereby created two Caribbean Friendship Week committees, one for St. Thomas-St. John and one for St. Croix. Each committee shall be composed of five members to be appointed by the President of the Legislature. One member of each committee shall be a member of the Legislature representing the districts of St. Thomas-St. John and St. Croix, respectively. The remainder of such members shall be chosen from among citizens and non-citizens interested in furthering friendly relations between the Virgin Islands and its Caribbean neighbors. The members of each committee shall serve for two years.
