§ 179. Human Relations Day

  • (a) The second week in December shall be observed as “Human Relations Day” throughout the Virgin Islands.

  • (b) At least 15 days prior to Human Relations Week, the Governor shall issue a proclamation calling on residents of the Virgin Islands, schools, churches, civic organizations, labor unions and political parties to join together in appropriate ceremonies to reflect upon the common dignity of all men without regard to race, creed, ethnic or cultural backgrounds and to reaffirm that all men are created equal in the sight of their Creator.

  • (c) The Governor is authorized to appoint a committee each year to develop appropriate plans, programs and ceremonies for the celebration of Human Relations Week in the Virgin Islands.
