§ 178. Nurse of the Year Award

  • (a) Annually on the anniversary of the birthdate of Florence Nightingale the Virgin Islands Nurses' Association shall cause to be selected on an objective basis, one nurse from St. Croix and one nurse from St. Thomas or St. John, whose all around professional proficiency, devotion to duty and conduct qualify them for special recognition.

  • (b) The nurses selected for the recognition referred to in subsection (a) of this section shall be referred to as “Nurse of the Year—St. Croix” and “Nurse of the Year—St. Thomas-St. John”. The two nurses selected each year shall each be presented with cash award of $500 and a suitable plaque. The Virgin Islands Nurses' Association shall select the name for each of the two awards in honor of a deceased outstanding Virgin Islands' nurse, one from St. Croix and one from St. Thomas or St. John.
