§ 174. Committee for the Celebration of Teachers' Day; functions

As soon as the proclamation of the Governor to which section 173 of this title refers is published, a committee to be known as “Committee for the Celebration of Teachers' Day”, shall be organized and shall be in charge of managing and directing the acts, demonstrations, and other public activities to be observed on Teachers' Day. The Commissioner of Education and the Assistant Commissioner of Education shall serve as Chairman ex officio, and Vice-Chairman ex officio, respectively, of the Committee for the Celebration of Teachers' Day. There shall be six additional members of this committee, who shall be appointed by the Governor for each annual celebration of Teachers' Day, of whom at least two shall reside in St. Thomas, two shall reside in St. Croix, and one shall reside in St. John. The additional members shall be persons representing public opinion, who may also represent local institutions of an educational, cultural, and civic nature.
