63.2-606. Eligibility for TANF; school attendance.

In order to be eligible for TANF, members of the assistance unit, includingminor custodial parents, shall be in compliance with compulsory schoolattendance laws ( 22.1-254 et seq.). The Board shall adopt regulations toimplement the provisions of this section, including procedures for localdepartments to (i) receive notification from local school divisions ofstudents who are truant and (ii) assist families in noncompliance to achievecompliance. An applicant for or recipient of TANF or any member of hisassistance unit who has been found guilty under 22.1-263 shall not beeligible for TANF financial assistance until in compliance with compulsoryschool attendance laws. Any person who becomes ineligible for TANF financialassistance as a result of this section shall nonetheless be considered a TANFrecipient for all other purposes.
