63.2-1928. Service of lien.

The Commissioner may at any time after the filing of a support lien serve acopy of said lien upon any person, firm, corporation, association, politicalsubdivision or department of the Commonwealth in possession of earnings, ordeposits or balances held in any bank account of any nature that are due,owing, or belonging to such debtor. Such support lien shall be served uponthe person, firm, corporation, association, political subdivision ordepartment of the Commonwealth either in the manner prescribed for theservice of warrant in a civil action or by certified mail, return receiptrequested. At any time after a support lien has been filed, the Director maynotify consumer credit reporting agencies that the lien has been filed. Nolien filed under 63.2-1927 shall have any effect against earnings or bankdeposits or balances unless it states the amount of the support debt accruedand unless service upon such person, firm, corporation, association,political subdivision or department of the Commonwealth in possession ofearnings or bank accounts, deposits or balances is accomplished pursuant tothis section.
