55-66.6. Recordation of certificate of satisfaction, etc., required whenrelease of lien recorded.

Whenever a release of a deed of trust or other obligation shall be admittedto record in the office of the clerk of any circuit court, such clerk shallrecord a certificate of satisfaction or certificate of partial satisfaction,stating that such deed or other obligation is released. The fee charged bythe clerk for recording such release shall be paid by the lien debtor. Suchcertificate shall be indexed in the name of the grantors and grantees of theinstrument being released. If any clerk fails for ten days to do anythingrequired of him by this section, he shall be liable for any damage which anyperson may sustain by reason of such failure and shall pay a fine of not lessthan $25 nor more than $100.
