54.1-3214. When license issued without examination.

Any person who has successfully passed an examination in optometry in anystate of the United States and is the holder of a license to that effect,issued by the board of such state, and has conducted an ethical professionalpractice of optometry for at least one year, may, upon application to theBoard of Optometry, be issued a license without examination.

The Board may recognize such examinations if they are approximatelyequivalent to its examination, the applicant's educational qualifications areequivalent to those required in this Commonwealth, the applicant has notfailed an examination in optometry in Virginia, and the state from which theapplicant comes grants reciprocity to persons licensed in the Commonwealth.
