54.1-2950. Requisite training and educational achievements of assistants.

The Board shall establish a testing program to determine the training andeducational achievements of the assistant or the Board may accept otherevidence, such as experience or completion of an approved training program,in lieu of testing and shall establish this as a prerequisite for approval ofthe licensee's application.

Pending the outcome of the next examination administered by the NationalCommission for Certification of Physician Assistants, the Board may grantprovisional licensure to graduates of physician or podiatrists' assistantscurricula which are approved by the Committee on Allied Health Education andAccreditation of the American Medical Association or the Committee onEducation of the American Podiatry Association. Such provisional licensureshall be granted at the discretion of the Board.
