46.2-448. Notice of cancellation; record; fees.

Notice of cancellation is to be signed by the Commissioner or by someonedesignated by him and the seal of the Department placed thereon.Notwithstanding any other provision of law the clerk shall record the noticein the books kept for the recording of deeds and shall index the same in theindices thereto for grantors and grantees, under the respective names of theindividual sureties in the column for grantors, and the Commonwealth ofVirginia in the column for grantees, for which he shall receive two dollarsand fifty cents to be paid by the principal in full payment of all servicesin connection with the recordation and release of the bond. The clerk shallplace on the notice a statement showing the time of recording and the bookand page of recording and return the notice to the Commissioner.
