44-54.9. Uniform; rank in precedence; command.

The Virginia State Defense Force shall be uniformed and shall conform tostandards of dress and appearance in accordance with regulations prescribedby the Adjutant General. The uniform and insignia of the State Defense Forceshall include distinctive devices identifying it as a state defense force anddistinguishing it from the National Guard or the armed forces of the UnitedStates. The wearing of permanent military decorations awarded in the serviceof the armed forces of the United States or in the national guards of theseveral states is authorized.

The grade structure of the Virginia State Defense Force, to the extentpracticable, shall be the same as that prescribed for the Army National Guard.
