38.2-4000. Societies to which chapter applies.

The provisions of this chapter apply to every person designated as a "burialsociety." A "burial society" is any person engaged in the business ofproviding benefits for any payment of funeral, burial or other expenses ofdeceased members, by levying assessments or dues that are collected or are tobe collected from the members of the society, or from the members of a classof the society.
