33.1-192. Limitation of suits on such contracts entered into prior to July1, 1976.

No suit or action shall be brought against the Department of Transportation,Commonwealth of Virginia, by any contractor or any persons claiming underhim, on any contract executed pursuant to this chapter or by others on anyclaim arising from the prosecution of the project by the contractor, unlessthe same shall be brought within one year after the completion of the work onthe project to the satisfaction of the chief engineer, Department ofTransportation.

No suit or action shall be brought against the contractor or surety on anysuch contract or claim unless the same shall be brought within five yearsafter the completion of the work on the project to the satisfaction of thechief engineer, Department of Transportation.
