2006 Code of Virginia § 29.1-703.1 - Temporary registration certificate; fee; application

29.1-703.1. Temporary registration certificate; fee; application.

A. An owner may obtain a temporary registration certificate from theDepartment or an authorized agent of the Department. The fee for thetemporary registration certificate shall be ten dollars. Each temporaryregistration certificate issued shall be valid for a period of thirty daysfrom the date of issuance. To qualify for a temporary registrationcertificate, the owner shall provide his name and address (including zipcode), sufficient proof of ownership as determined by the Department and adescription of the motorboat to include the: present number on the boat (ifany); make and model; type of propulsion; year of manufacture; length asmeasured along the centerline; hull identification number; state of principaluse; and required fee. Application for the permanent certificate of numberand certificate of title (if applicable) with applicable fees shall besubmitted to the Department immediately upon receipt of a temporaryregistration certificate.

B. A temporary registration certificate shall not be valid as proof ofownership for any vessel.
