2006 Code of Virginia § 22.1-319 - Definitions

22.1-319. Definitions.

As used in this chapter unless the context requires a different meaning:

"Board" means the Virginia Board of Education.

"Department" means the Department of Education.

"Person" means any individual, group of individuals, partnership,association, business trust, corporation, or other business entity.

"School for students with disabilities" or "school" or "schools" meansa privately owned and operated preschool, school, or educationalorganization, no matter how titled, maintained or conducting classes for thepurpose of offering instruction, for a consideration, profit or tuition, topersons determined to have autism, deaf-blindness, a developmental delay, ahearing impairment including deafness, mental retardation, multipledisabilities, an orthopedic impairment, other health impairment, an emotionaldisturbance, a severe disability, a specific learning disability, a speech orlanguage impairment, a traumatic brain injury, or a visual impairmentincluding blindness.

"Superintendent" means the Superintendent of Public Instruction.
