20-88.47. Duties of initiating tribunal.

A. Upon the filing of a petition authorized by this chapter, an initiatingtribunal of the Commonwealth shall forward the petition and its accompanyingdocuments (i) to the responding tribunal or appropriate support enforcementagency in the responding state or, (ii) if the identity of the respondingtribunal is unknown, to the state information agency of the responding statewith a request that they be forwarded to the appropriate tribunal and thatreceipt be acknowledged.

B. If requested by the responding tribunal, a tribunal of the Commonwealthshall issue a certificate or other documents and make findings required bythe law of the responding state. If the responding state is a foreign countryor political subdivision, upon request the tribunal shall specify the amountof support sought, convert that amount into the equivalent amount in theforeign currency under applicable official or market exchange rate aspublicly reported, and provide any other documents necessary to satisfy therequirements of the responding state.
