2006 Code of Virginia § 20-49.7 - Civil actions

20-49.7. Civil actions.

An action brought under this chapter is a civil action. The natural parentand the alleged parent are competent to testify. Testimony of a physicianconcerning the medical circumstances of the pregnancy and the condition andcharacteristics of the child upon birth shall not be privileged. Bills forexpenses incurred for pregnancy, childbirth and genetic testing shall beadmissible as prima facie evidence of the facts stated therein, withoutrequiring third-party foundation testimony if the party offering suchevidence is under oath.
