19.2-375. Notice to Commissioner of Department of Motor Vehicles; duties ofCommissioner.

If the property so seized be a motor vehicle required by the motor vehiclelaws of Virginia to be registered, the attorney for the Commonwealth shallforthwith notify the Commissioner of the Department of Motor Vehicles, bycertified mail, of such seizure and the motor number of the vehicle soseized, and the Commissioner shall promptly certify to such attorney for theCommonwealth the name and address of the person in whose name such vehicle isregistered, together with the name and address of any person holding a lienthereon, and the amount thereof. The Commissioner shall also forthwith notifysuch registered owner and lienor, in writing, of the reported seizure and thecounty or city wherein such seizure was made.

The certificate of the Commissioner, concerning such registration and lienshall be received in evidence in any proceeding, either civil or criminal,under any provision of this chapter, in which such facts may be material tothe issue involved.
