16.1-127. Courts may conduct preliminary examinations.

In addition to the power and authority conferred by this chapter on courtsnot of record having criminal jurisdiction, each such court shall have powerto conduct preliminary examinations of persons charged with crime within itsjurisdiction in the manner prescribed in Chapter 7 ( 19.2-71 et seq.) ofTitle 19.2.
