15.2-4214. Cooperation and consultation with other agencies.

A planning district commission may cooperate with other planning districtcommissions, councils of governments, or the legislative and administrativebodies and officials of other districts or localities within or outside adistrict, so as to coordinate the planning, development and services of adistrict with the plans and services of other districts and localities andthe Commonwealth. A planning district commission may appoint committees andadopt rules to effect such cooperation. A planning district commission shallalso cooperate with the Department of Housing and Community Development anduse advice and information furnished by such Department and by other stateand federal officials, departments and agencies. Such Department and suchofficials, departments and agencies having information, maps and datapertinent to the planning and development of a district may make thematerial, together with services and funds, available for use of a planningdistrict commission.

All agencies of the Commonwealth shall notify the Department of Housing andCommunity Development prior to engaging in planning activities which willrequire planning district commission participation. State agencies areencouraged to consult with planning district commissions in the developmentof regional plans and services and for data collection.
