15.2-2210. Creation of local planning commissions; participation inplanning district commissions or joint local commissions.
Every locality shall by resolution or ordinance create a local planningcommission in order to promote the orderly development of the locality andits environs. In accomplishing the objectives of 15.2-2200 the localplanning commissions shall serve primarily in an advisory capacity to thegoverning bodies.
Any locality may participate in a planning district commission in accordancewith Chapter 42 ( 15.2-4200 et seq.) of this title or a joint localcommission in accordance with 15.2-2219.
