8.01-225.1. Immunity for team physicians.

Any physician, surgeon or chiropractor licensed to practice by the Board ofMedicine in the Commonwealth who, in the absence of gross negligence orwillful misconduct, renders emergency medical care or emergency treatment toa participant in an athletic event sponsored by a public, private orreligious elementary, middle or high school while acting without compensationas a team physician, shall not be liable for civil damages resulting from anyact or omission related to such care or treatment.
