3.1-796.108. Impoundment; expenses; lien; disposition of animal.

When an animal control officer, humane investigator, law-enforcement officeror State Veterinarian's representative finds that an apparent violation ofthis chapter has rendered an animal in such a condition as to constitute adirect and immediate threat to its life, safety or health which the owner orcustodian has failed or refuses to remedy, such animal control officer,humane investigator, law-enforcement officer or State Veterinarian'srepresentative may impound the animal pursuant to 3.1-796.115 in a facilitywhich will provide the elements of good care as set forth in 3.1-796.68 andshall then proceed to take such steps as are required to dispose of theanimal pursuant to 3.1-796.115.
