Act 2 - GEORGE J. DENNIS, JR., MEMORIAL BRIDGE - DESIGNATION

An Act

 

Designating a bridge, identified as Bridge Key 46475, carrying State Route 1021 over the Susquehanna River in Wyoming Borough, Luzerne County, as the George J. Dennis, Jr., Memorial Bridge.

 

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania hereby enacts as follows:

 

Section 1.  George J. Dennis, Jr., Memorial Bridge.

(a)  Findings.--The General Assembly finds and declares as follows:

(1)  George J. Dennis, Jr., was born February 11, 1922, in West Wyoming, Pennsylvania.

(2)  Mr. Dennis attended the West Wyoming High School and later was an attendee of Bucknell Junior College.

(3)  Throughout Mr. Dennis's life, he held many different roles in the community and professionally, including his position as a West Wyoming councilman, member and past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Wyoming, Pennsylvania, and he was an 11-year employee with the Department of Transportation (PennDOT).

(4)  Mr. Dennis died on February 11, 1972, while at work for PennDOT.

(b)  Designation.--The bridge, identified as Bridge Key 46475, carrying State Route 1021 over the Susquehanna River in Wyoming Borough, Luzerne County, is designated as the George J. Dennis, Jr., Memorial Bridge.

(c)  Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the bridge to traffic in both directions on the bridge.

Section 2.  Effective date.

This act shall take effect in 60 days.
