2006 Ohio Revised Code - 3317.10. Department of job and family services to certify number of Ohio works first children in district.

§ 3317.10. Department of job and family services to certify number of Ohio works first children in district.

(A)  On or before the first day of March of each year, the department of job and family services shall certify to the state board of education the unduplicated number of children ages five through seventeen residing in each school district and living in a family that, during the preceding October, participated in Ohio works first.

The department of job and family services shall certify this information according to the school district of residence for each child. Except as provided under division (B) of this section, the number of children so certified in any year shall be used by the department of education in calculating the distribution of moneys for the ensuing fiscal year as provided in section 3317.029 [3317.02.9] of the Revised Code.

(B)  Upon the transfer of part of the territory of one school district to the territory of one or more other school districts, the department of education may adjust the number of children certified under division (A) of this section for any district gaining or losing territory in such a transfer in order to take into account the effect of the transfer on the number of such children who reside in the district. Within sixty days of receipt of a request for information from the department of education, the department of job and family services shall provide any information the department of education determines is necessary to make such adjustments. The department of education may use the adjusted number for any district for the applicable fiscal year, in lieu of the number certified for the district for that fiscal year under division (A) of this section, in the calculation of the distribution of moneys provided in section 3317.029 [3317.02.9] of the Revised Code.
