Section 30-1-5 - Classification of crimes.

Crimes are classified as felonies, misdemeanors and petty misdemeanors.

ANNOTATIONS

Meaning of "crime" in Detoxification Act. — The Criminal Code makes it clear that the prohibition in the Detoxification Act (Section 43-2-16 NMSA 1978) against charging an individual held in protective custody with any "crime" includes misdemeanors and petty misdemeanors. 1973 Op. Att'y Gen. No. 73-52.
