309.304 Powers and duties of board -- Administrative regulations.

The board shall administer and enforce the provisions of this chapter and shall have
the responsibility of evaluating the qualifications of applicants for licensure and the
issuance of licenses.
The board may issue subpoenas, examine witnesses, pay appropriate witness fees,
administer oaths, and investigate allegations of practices violating the provisions of
this chapter.
The board shall promulgate necessary and reasonable administrative regulations in
accordance with KRS Chapter 13A and this chapter to effectively carry out and
enforce the provisions of KRS 309.300 to 309.319, including regulations to
establish authorized fees. Fees shall not exceed amounts necessary to generate
sufficient funds to effectively carry out and enforce the provisions of KRS 309.300
to 309.319.
The board may conduct hearings in accordance with KRS Chapter 13B and keep
records and minutes necessary to carry out the functions of KRS 309.300 to
309.319.
The board may renew licenses and require continuing education as a condition for
renewal.
The board may suspend or revoke licenses, or impose supervisory or probationary
conditions upon licensees, or impose administrative disciplinary fines, issue written
reprimands, or any combination thereof.
The board may seek injunctive relief in Franklin Circuit Court to stop the unlawful
practice of interpreting by unlicensed persons.
The board may employ any persons it deems necessary to carry on the work of the
board, and shall define their duties and fix their compensation.
Beginning in 1999, on October 1 of each year, the board shall submit a report to the
Legislative Research Commission indicating:
(a) The current number of licensed interpreters; and
(b) The number of complaints received against interpreters and any disciplinary
action taken within the previous calendar year.
