242.140 Petition for referendum. A petition for a referendum to determine whether nonintoxicating malt beverages containing not more than three and two-tenths percent (3.2%) of alcohol by weight shall be sold in dry territory, shall be signed by a number of legal voters of the territory equal to twenty-five percent (25%) of the total number of votes cast in the last regular election in the territory. The petition shall be filed with the county clerk not less than twenty-five (25) nor more than sixty (60) days before the day specified for the holding of the referendum.
