164.302 Core academic content standards for reading and mathematics for
introductory college courses.
(1) Within thirty (30) days from March 25, 2009, each postsecondary education
institution shall plan and implement a process to develop core academic content <br>standards for reading and mathematics for introductory courses in the public <br>postsecondary education institutions.
(2) The process shall ensure that secondary educators are engaged with the
postsecondary education faculty and other content specialists in order that the <br>standards at each educational level are vertically aligned.
(3) The Council on Postsecondary Education, the Department of Education, and the
postsecondary education institutions are urged to merge activities, resources, and <br>dissemination efforts as is practical to eliminate duplication of effort and conflicting <br>recommendations.
(4) All core academic standards for mathematics and reading in introductory courses
shall be completed by December 15, 2010, with a target completion date of <br>December 15, 2009, for the mathematics standards.
