313.420 Licensure of practicing specialist -- Examinations -- Exemption from examination requirement. (1) Any dentist who is duly licensed and qualified to practice dentistry in this state on June 19, 1952, may obtain a license as a specialist in any of the branches of dentistry as set out in KRS 313.400 by presenting to the board, within six (6) months from June 19, 1952, satisfactory evidence that, prior to June 19, 1952, he was holding himself out to the public as a specialist and was specializing in the branch of dentistry for which a specialty license is sought. (2) Any dentist who obtains a license to practice dentistry in the state after June 19, 1952, or who does not meet the qualifications of subsection (1) of this section and who desires to specialize in any of the branches of dentistry set out in KRS 313.400 may obtain a license as such specialist by successfully passing such reasonable examination as the board deems proper. (3) A license as a specialist may be issued without examination to a holder of a diploma from the national certifying board, if any, of the branch of dentistry for which a specialty license is sought provided the applicant has a license to practice dentistry in this state and is in good standing with his respective national certifying board.
