313.247 Laboratory procedure work order required for dental laboratory work, exception. (1) No dentist shall use the services of any person not licensed to practice dentistry in this state to construct, alter, repair or duplicate any denture, plate, bridge, splint, orthodontic or prosthetic appliance, without first furnishing such unlicensed person a written laboratory procedure work order on forms prescribed by the board. Such unlicensed person shall retain the original laboratory procedure work order, and the dentist shall retain a duplicate copy, for two (2) years from the date thereof. All such laboratory procedure work orders required by this subsection shall be open for inspection by the board. (2) If the person receiving a laboratory procedure work order from a licensed dentist engages another person to perform any of the services relative to such laboratory procedure work order, such other person shall furnish a written work order with respect thereto on forms prescribed by the board. Such person shall retain the original work order, and the person issuing such work order shall retain a duplicate copy for two (2) years from the date thereof. All such work orders required by this subsection shall be open for inspection by the board. (3) Nothing in this section or KRS 313.020 shall prevent a licensed dentist having a technician working exclusively for him from doing laboratory work under his direction within the confines of his office without a laboratory procedure work order.
