147A.002 Department for Local Government -- Organization -- Commissioner. (1) The Department for Local Government shall be headed by a commissioner, and shall be divided for administrative purposes into the Division of Community Development and such other divisions as the commissioner, with the approval of the Governor, determines. The Division of Community Development shall be responsible for the administration of Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 as amended through 1981, which includes the community block grant program and the 107 technical assistance program. (2) The commissioner, with the approval of the Governor, shall appoint necessary deputies, assistants, attorneys, and other employees and shall fix their compensation and authorize payment of their expenses according to law.
