§ 20-2-778. Required Information to Parents of Students Regarding Meningococcal Meningitis and Influenza and Their Respective Vaccines

- If a local board of education provides information on immunizations, infectious diseases, medications, or other school health issues to parents and guardians of students in grades six through 12, then the following information about meningococcal meningitis disease and influenza and their respective vaccines shall be included:
- A description of causes, symptoms, and means of transmission;
- A list of sources for additional information; and
- Related recommendations issued by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices of the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
- The Department of Education, in cooperation with the Department of Public Health, shall develop and make available the information about meningococcal meningitis disease and influenza and their respective vaccines to local school systems as required under subsection (a) of this Code section in an efficient manner that shall include posting the information on its website.

The 2017 amendment, effective July 1, 2017, near the end of subsections (a) and (b), inserted "and influenza" and substituted "their respective vaccines" for "its vaccine"; and inserted "Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices of the" in the middle of paragraph (a)(3).
Code Commission notes.- Pursuant to Code Section 28-9-5, in 2009, Code Section 20-2-776, as enacted by Ga. L. 2009, p. 785, § 1, was redesignated as Code Section 20-2-778.
