41-1505.01. Additional powers and duties relating to export development

The department shall encourage and develop commerce with other states and foreign countries by providing support services to local businesses desiring to export their goods and services from this state. Support may include cooperation with other state and federal agencies with programs which will help the department accomplish this goal. The department shall also:

1. Compile foreign trade information available from the United States department of commerce, state government and private sources and produce readily consumable marketing information.

2. Create a program to assess the potential of international investment in this state and promote international investment which results in the infusion of new capital and the creation of new jobs to the benefit of this state.

3. Disseminate to businesses and other interested persons collected market information that relates to exporting.

4. Prepare a list of businesses based in this state that provide export support services and disseminate the list to potential exporters to assist their endeavors.

5. Assist public and private universities or colleges to develop undergraduate or graduate level education programs to train persons in the knowledge of export trading.

6. Coordinate the current international trading activities of state and local agencies and organizations.
