41-1271 Joint legislative budget committee; members; chairman; meetings
41-1271. Joint legislative budget committee; members; chairman; meetings A. There is established a joint legislative budget committee which consists of sixteen members, including the majority leaders of the senate and house of representatives, the chairmen of the senate and house of representatives appropriations committees, the chairman of the senate finance committee and the chairman of the house ways and means committee, five members of the senate and five members of the house of representatives who are members of their respective appropriations committees. The president of the senate and the speaker of the house of representatives shall each appoint the five members from their appropriations committee to the joint legislative budget committee. B. The chairman of the house of representatives appropriations committee has a term as chairman of the joint legislative budget committee from the first day of the first regular session to the first day of the second regular session of each legislature, and the chairman of the senate appropriations committee has a term from the first day of the second regular session to the first day of the next legislature's first regular session. C. The joint legislative budget committee shall meet as often as they deem necessary, and a majority of the members shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business. |
