Petition for Writ of Mandamus Denied and Memorandum Opinion filed September 1, 2023. In The Fourteenth Court of Appeals NO. 14-23-00641-CV IN RE DEBRA LOUISE MCLEOD, Relator ORIGINAL PROCEEDING WRIT OF MANDAMUS County Court at Law Waller County, Texas Trial Court Cause No. 20-08-23606 MEMORANDUM OPINION On August 30, 2023, relator Debra Louise McLeod filed in this Court a petition for writ of mandamus, a motion for leave to file mandamus record under seal, and a motion for temporary relief from August 4, 2023 “status divorce” rendition. See Tex. Gov’t Code Ann. § 22.221; see also Tex. R. App. P. 52. In the petition, relator asks this Court to compel the Honorable Robert J. Kern, visiting judge sitting by assignment of the County Court at Law of Waller County, to set aside the trial court’s August 4, 2023 oral ruling granting a “status divorce.” Although an oral ruling can sometimes be the subject of a mandamus, the trial court asked for a written order and has set a hearing for entry of that order. Relator will have an opportunity at that hearing to make the arguments that she has made in this mandamus. Accordingly, we deny relator’s petition for writ of mandamus without prejudice for lack of a written order. Additionally, all pending motions are denied as moot. PER CURIAM Panel consists of Chief Justice Christopher and Justices Jewell and Zimmerer. 2
