03/20/2018 IN THE SUPREME COURT OF THE STATE OF MONTANA Case Number: AF 06-0628 AF 06-0628 FIL RULES FOR LAWYER DISCIPLINARY ENFORCEMENT ORDER MAR 20 2018 Ed"Smith 7LERK OF THE SUPREME COURT STATE OF MONTANA Following public notice and a period for public comment,the Court has determined-to modify Rule 2 of the Rules for Lawyer Disciplinary Enforcement so that the areas from which lawyer members ofthe Commission on Practice are elected are more evenly balanced as to numbers ofattorneys in each area. The new areas will conform to the areas from which State Bar of Montana Board of Trustee members presently are elected. The new areas will be: Area A, comprising the Eleventh and Nineteenth Judicial Districts; Area B,comprising the Fourth, Twentieth, and Twenty-first Judicial Districts; Area C, comprising the Second, Third, and Fifth Judicial Districts; Area D,comprising the Eighth and Ninth Judicial Districts; Area E, comprising the Seventh, Tenth, Twelfth, Fourteenth, Fifteenth, Sixteenth, and Seventeenth Judicial Districts; Area F, comprising the First Judicial District; Area G,comprising the Sixth and Eighteenth Judicial Districts; and Area H,comprising the Thirteenth and Twenty-second Judicial Districts. A copy ofthe Rules of Lawyer Disciplinary Enforcement as so amended is attached to this Order. Transition schedule All current lawyer members of the Commission who are not up for reelection will serve out their present terms. The lawyer members from current Areas A and E are up for election in April 2018. The Court will initiate elections for those areas, now to be redesignated as Areas A,B,F,and G. These elections will temporarily increase the number of rnembers on the Commission by two. Current Area C will be redesignated as Area D, and current Area G will be redesignated as Area H. Pursuant to the established election schedule, election for the lawyer members for those areas will be held in 2020. Current Areas D, F, and H will be combined into new Area E. Pursuant to the established election schedule, election for that lawyer mernber seat on the Commission will be held in 2021, as will election for current Area B, which will be redesignated as Area C. IT IS SO ORDERED. The Clerk is directed to provide copies ofthis Order to the State Bar ofMontana with a request that a link to the Order be published on the Bar's website and referenced in the next available issue of the Montana Lawyer.
