STATE OF MICHIGAN
COURT OF APPEALS
In the Matter of JAMES PORTER, JR., TANISHA
POINTER, JAMIE POINTER, and MARY
POINTER, Minors.
FAMILY INDEPENDENCE AGENCY,
UNPUBLISHED
July 7, 2000
Petitioner-Appellee,
v
No. 220708
Kalamazoo Circuit Court
Family Division
LC No. 96-000068-NA
ROSIE POINTER,
Respondent-Appellant.
Before: Jansen, P. J., and Hood and Saad, JJ.
MEMORANDUM.
Respondent appeals as of right from a family court order terminating her parental rights to the
minor children under MCL 712A.19b(3)(c)(i) and (g); MSA 27.3178(598.19b)(3)(c)(i) and (g). We
affirm.
The family court did not clearly err in finding that the statutory grounds for termination were
established by clear and convincing evidence. MCR 5.974(I); In re Sours, 459 Mich 624, 633; 593
NW2d 520 (1999); In re Miller, 433 Mich 331, 337; 445 NW2d 161 (1989). Respondent does not
address the issue whether termination of her parental rights was clearly not in the children’s best
interests, see MCL 712A.19b(5); MSA 27.3178(598.19b)(5), and, therefore, we deem that issue
abandoned. Cf. In re JS & SM, 231 Mich App 92, 98; 585 NW2d 326 (1998). Accordingly, we find
no basis for disturbing the family court's decision to terminate respondent's parental rights to the
children.
Affirmed.
