IN THE COURT OF APPEALS OF IOWA No. 7-229 / 06-0862 Filed April 25, 2007 MELISSA DELISLE, Petitioner-Appellee, vs. ANTHONY DELISLE, SR., Respondent-Appellant. ________________________________________________________________ Appeal from the Iowa District Court for Polk County, Carla T. Schemmel and Robert J. Blink, Judges. Anthony DeLisle appeals the entry of a domestic abuse protective order. APPEAL DISMISSED. Anthony DeLisle, Des Moines, pro se. Melissa DeLisle, Des Moines, pro se. Considered by Vogel, P.J., and Vaitheswaran and Eisenhauer, JJ. 2 VAITHESWARAN, J. Anthony DeLisle appeals the entry of a domestic abuse protective order. He concedes that the order was canceled approximately four months after it was entered. Additionally, we note that the cancellation order was issued at the request of DeLisle. That request stated DeLisle and his wife needed more time with a counselor to restore their marriage. We conclude the district court’s cancellation of the protective order renders DeLisle’s appeal moot. See Lewis Inv., Inc. v. City of Iowa City, 703 N.W.2d 180, 183 (Iowa 2005) (quoting State v. Hernandez-Lopez, 639 N.W.2d 226, 234 (Iowa 2002) (“Ordinarily, an appeal is deemed moot if the issue becomes nonexistent or academic and, consequently no longer involves a justiciable controversy.”)). APPEAL DISMISSED.
