Butts v. GeorgiaAnnotate this Case
A Cobb County grand jury indicted Appellant Jarvis Butts, along with Darchelle Arnold, Desmond Post, Rolaunda Fripp, and Joseph Brown on two ounts of malice murder, two counts of felony murder during the commission of armed robbery, two counts of felony murder during the commission of aggravated assault, three counts of armed robbery, three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and three counts of aggravated assault with intent to rob. These crimes were all charged in connection with the shooting deaths of Mark Jones and Christopher Jackson in 2009. Appellant argued on appeal to the Supreme Court that the evidence presented at his trial was legally insufficient to support his convictions and that the trial court applied the wrong standard in denying his motion for new trial on the general grounds. Finding no reversible error, the Supreme Court affirmed.
