MAR 3 0 2017 LeeAnn Flynn Hall, Clerk of Court IN RE OPINIONS AND ORDERS OF THIS COURT CONTAINING NOVEL OR SIGNIFICANT INTERPRETATIONS OF LAW Docket No. Misc. 16-01 ORDER GRANTING IN PART THE MOV ANTS' REQUEST TO MODIFY THE SCHEDULING ORDER Upon consideration of Movants' unopposed request to modify the briefing schedule in this matter in light of proceedings taking place in Docket No. Misc. 13-08, it hereby is ORDERED that the request is GRANTED IN PART. The Court will grant Movants' request to extend the briefing schedule but not according to the due dates that were proposed. All courts have the inherent power to "control the disposition of the causes on its docket with economy of time and effort for itself, for counsel, and for litigants." Landis v. N Am. Co., 299 U.S. 248, 254 (1936). Accordingly, in light of the pending en bane proceedings in Docket No. Misc. 13-08, the narrowing of issues and questions of law that might result from a schedule that accommodates an opportunity for the en bane Court to decide the legal question pending in that matter, as well as the Court's schedule for other matters over which it presides, it hereby is FURTHER ORDERED THAT the briefing schedule shall proceed as follows: (I) The United States of America's response to the pending Motion of the American Civil Liberties Union for the Release of Court Records shall be filed no later than 3 :00 p.m. on June 9, 2017. (2) The American Civil Liberties Union's reply brief in support of its motion shall be filed no later than 3:00 p.m. on June 30, 2017.
