United States v. Sifuentes, No. 18-11149 (5th Cir. 2019)Annotate this Case
The Fifth Circuit affirmed defendant's sentence imposed after he pleaded guilty to a drug-related money laundering conspiracy. The court held that defendant's sentence was not procedurally unreasonable and he was properly sentenced under USSG 2S1.1(a)(1), rather than subsection (a)(2). The court also held that defendant's sentence was substantively reasonable where defendant failed to offer any sufficient grounds to rebut the presumption of reasonableness for a below-Guidelines sentence.
