Superior Court of the State of Delaware Jan R. Jurden President Judge Leonard L. Williams Justice Center 500 North King Street, Suite 10400 Wilmington, Delaware 19801-3733 Telephone (302) 255-0665 May 17, 2021 Larry Ward SBI# 00162442 James T. Vaughn Correctional Center 1181 Paddock Road Smyrna, DE 19977 RE: State v. Larry Ward, ID No. 30807429DI Dear Mr. Ward: The Court is in receipt of your March 1, 2021 letter asking the Court to vacate your sentence, (“March Letter”)1 and your April 27, 2021 letter requesting a hearing on your March Letter, (“April Letter”).2 Specifically, you argue that you were convicted of Attempted First Degree Murder under 11 Del. C. § 636(a)(1), but that you were improperly sentenced on a different offense, “Attempted Intentional Murder in the First Degree.” 3 You were convicted of Attempted First Degree Murder pursuant to 11 Del. C. §§ 531 and 636(a)(1). There is no separate offense titled “Attempted Intentional Murder in the First Degree” in the Delaware Criminal Code. You were properly sentenced on the offense for which you were convicted. Your sentence is appropriate for all the reasons stated at the time of sentencing. Over the years, you have filed many letters and motions with the Court. Your continued and often repetitive filings are wasting the Court’s resources. Your conviction and sentence are lawful. You are not entitled to a hearing on your March Letter because it is meritless. Therefore, your March Letter and April Letter are 1 D.I. 159. D.I. 160. 3 D.I. 159 at 2. 2 DENIED. IT IS SO ORDERED. Very truly yours, /s/ Jan R. Jurden Jan R. Jurden, President Judge JRJ:mls cc: Prothonotary Karen M. Volker, Esq., DAG Larry Ward (SBI# 00162442) 2
