§ 23-35.11. Nursing scholarships; contract to be signed before award

VA Code § 23-35.11 (2015) What's This?

Before any such scholarship is awarded, the applicant must sign a written contract, under the terms of which the applicant agrees to pursue a nursing program until completion and thereupon to promptly begin and thereafter engage continuously in nursing work in the Commonwealth in a region with a critical shortage of nurses for one month for each $100 of scholarship awarded pursuant to ยง 23-35.9. The requirement for continuous engagement in nursing work may be waived by the Committee if the scholarship recipient requests leave to pursue an undergraduate or graduate degree in nursing or related to nursing activities. The contract shall contain such other provisions as are necessary, in the opinion of the State Board of Health, to accomplish the purposes of the scholarship.
