2006 Code of Virginia § 55-3 - When gift of goods or chattels invalid

55-3. When gift of goods or chattels invalid.

No gift of any goods or chattels shall be valid unless by deed or will, orunless actual possession shall have come to and remained with the donee orsome person claiming under him. If the donor and donee reside together at thetime of the gift, possession at the place of their residence shall not be asufficient possession within the meaning of this section. This section shallnot apply to personal paraphernalia used exclusively by the donee.
