2006 Code of Virginia § 55-16 - When remainders not defeated

55-16. When remainders not defeated.

The alienation of a particular estate on which a remainder depends, or theunion of such estate with the inheritance by purchase or descent, shall notoperate, by merger or otherwise, to defeat, impair or otherwise affect suchremainder.
